Guild Wars

Hello internet!

If you've ever played an MMORPG (a Massivley Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, if you don't know what this means then you're probably in the wrong place) then you will have heard of game like World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, EVE Online and so on and so forth.

If you have heard of any of these then you probably know what I'm talking about. You probably will have heard of Guild Wars as well but if you haven't then today you are going to be enlightened.

WoW-£9/ Month

WAR- £8.99/ Month

EVE- £11/ Month

Guild Wars...

Free!

Honestly you buy the game and that's it. Its yours! No hidden catches, no nothing this is an MMO with no subscription fees. Guild Wars is a little bit different in its money makin
g ways. Guild Wars is split into three different campaigns. The three campaigns are entitled, Prophecies (Originally simply called Guild Wars), Factions and Nightfall (as well as an expansion named Eye of the North). Each campaign costs roughly £10 but right now on Amazon the entire collection with every campaign and the expansion is only £15. (In case you hadn't noticed this is me recommending it to you and no, NCsoft haven't paid me to write this, it really is that good).

Guild Wars was released way back in 2005 with the most recent piece of content, Eye of the North was released in 2007. Yet still it is the best looking game out of the MMO genre to date still.
To get an idea I'm going to introduce you to my character, Darius Longstrom. (Right)

Darius's Specs

Class: Elementalist/ Necromancer (yes there is multiclassing)
Skills:

1-Flare
2-Aura of Restoration
3-Fire Storm
4-Fireball
5-Phoenix
6-Vampiric Gaze
7-Well of Blood
8-Vampiric Touch

Guild Wars works on a system of skills, some of which you buy, some of which you earn through completing quests. The catch: You can only take a maximum of 8 whenever you enter battle and you can't change them while you're not in a safe zone. Some people may whine but it leads to a more strategic play style and players creating specific 'builds' for each class. I call my build 'Immolate you with fire-while I take all your health'. All the fire skills are focused on damage dealing (1-5) while the Necromancer skills (6-8) are focused on stealing health and healing my allies. Below you can see my skill bar.

There are so many great things about Guild Wars. You don't need some monster beast of a computer to run it. It runs extremely smoothly in windowed mode. Did i mention it's free? The community is extremely mature and helpful (I subscribed to WoW for one month before leaving in disgust, nobody is helpful and most of them are bent on making the game more difficult for you).

If you liked this blog then please recommend to friends and if you really want add me as friend in-game.

See you in Tyria!
